By Susan: Now that we’ve been playing a bit…

Now that we’ve been playing a bit… I am feeling much more confident on the bass! Remember, I am surrounded by seasoned musicians who are very skilled on their instruments, and I am learning something new. However, I’m gaining confidence in my role as the bassist for Harmonic Dirt. Next up… Figure out what I’m supposed to play without somebody having to teach it to me first!

But no post by me would be complete without adding some lyrics from a new song. This is the yet-to-be-recorded “ Rhode Island Street”

Rhode Island Street

The house burned down on Rhode Island Steet. …Up on Potrero Hill, You showed me the room where you used to sleep, with a broken windowsill.

I watch those flames soar through the sky…. Fingers of fire and silk. You said you made breakfast for all of your friends with bread and honey and milk.

Chorus:
That’s when we were young, and hungry and played …. all through the night until dawn. But you never thought that house will burn down without taking us all along.

Our names on the paper faded and grey are lost somewhere in the dirt. It was never no good for nothing at all, but man it was good for a burn.

Now they’re thinking that I am to blame, but I swear my fingers are clean. But if thoughts could set sparks then I am the one whose been torching down everything.
It is loosely based on an event recounted by one of our members. I would generally consider it “historical fiction!“
